Everyone’s hoping for a happy, healthy and safe festive season here in Aberdour - but just in case, we’ve put together all the information you need about doctors, pharmacies and local council services over the Christmas and New Year period.

Local residents should be aware that most of Fife Council’s services will be closed on 26th, 27th & 28th December & 2nd, 3rd & 4th January.

Some libraries and museums will close early on 24th December. For local variations, check with your library or museum.

When the council is closed, out of hours support is still available. For urgent social work or council house repairs, call 08451 55 00 99. Stay in touch, for updates about service disruptions, during severe weather. The telephone is not the only way to stay in touch. The Council needs to make sure it can reach those who need it the most and to keep phone lines clear for emergencies, if possible.

By checking out www.fifedirect.org.uk/winter, people can sign up for personal emails or text alerts to find out about school or facility closures. This means you find out information that you need at the earliest opportunity so you can plan ahead. There’s plenty of advice on how to prepare whether at home, in the car and in your community.

If the weather turns severe, the home page of Fife Direct will be dedicated to winter information and advice.

Some health services in Fife will also be closed over the festive period.

GP practices across Fife will be closed from 24-27 December, reopening on Wednesday, 28 December. GPs will also be shut from 31 December-3 January, reopening on Wednesday, 4 January.

There are a few things to remember ahead of the holiday period:

• Repeat Prescriptions - It is important that if you take repeat or regular medication that you have an adequate supply to see you through weekends, and public holidays.  
• Local Pharmacy - Local pharmacies offer expert advice on using the correct medicines, and also provide general information on healthcare. A full list of pharmacies that are open over the festive holidays can be found below.
• NHS 24 – If you are too ill to wait until your GP practice re-opens, you should call NHS 24 on 08454 24 24 24.  NHS 24’s website can also provide you with lots of information and assistance - www.nhs24.com
