Major delays ahead as roadworks to close A921 in Aberdour

  • The A921 east of Aberdour is set to close for works from Saturday 13th March

Drivers in Aberdour face months of major delays with the A921 east of the town set to close for more than four months.

The road is set to close on Saturday 13th March, with works scheduled to run until Friday 30th July. A lengthy diversion via the A987 and A909 will be in operation, with no access available on to Burntisland.

The works will cause major disruption to both private drivers and bus services, with Stagecoach yet to announce diversion information after consulting with the council.

The works are being carried out to prevent a potential landslide at Mains Brae - another stretch of the same route was reinforced in 2002.

You can see details of the planned closure here on the Scottish Road Works Register website.

Alasdair McFarlane says

Hope it's not a repetition of the rail bridge fiasco ! No, I'm confused as where is the A987 referred to above? A couple of weeks ago the Dunfermline Press published a spurious article relating to an A road that also doesn't exist. After I challenged the article I was told the road appeared on their Ordnance Survey map. I didn't have the nerve to ask what year, but A 987 ....I ask you !Now you're being told the same thing. Do you mean A909/B 9157 which makes sense?
