Visitors caught short as council closes Aberdour toilets
8 JulyVisitors to Aberdour will face a shortage of toilet facilities next summer, with the announcement that Aberdour’s three ‘superloos’ are set to close, after Fife Council decided it can’t afford to continue to fund them.
Two of the toilets are next to the new cafe at Silver Sands, with the other one the corner of the Shore Road children’s playpark - and all will be closed in 2012.
Each toilet costs around £12,000 a year to maintain, and the council is calling on more people to make use of its ‘Comfort Break’ scheme with local shops, pubs and community centres open their doors – and facilities - to the public.
